We run a variety of woodturning courses so you can combine the course of your choice with a holiday, or choose a full time course of 3, 4, or 5 days duration and really get involved in this fantastic and creative pastime.

Our courses are designed to suit all levels of proficiency. We also offer half day ‘have a go’ sessions so if you’ve never tried woodturning but have always wanted to, you will be made welcome at our farmhouse in the Hautes-Pyrénées and you can learn the basics and get the woodturning bug!

WoodWorks is owned and run by Graham and Liz Walker. We moved to France in May of 2002 after retiring from a very successful career as producers of music for feature films and major TV Series. We live in a farmhouse called ‘Le Mailho’ which is set in 15 acres of gently rolling hills on the hamlet of Cizos, near Castelnau-Magnoac in the beautiful Hautes-Pyrénées, with the snow capped mountains in the near distance, less than an hours drive away. Le Mailho was built in the 1850’s and until 2 years ago was a working farm breeding prize cattle. These cattle still graze the fields beyond the garden in the spring and summer months. Historic cities such as Toulouse, Carcassone, Auch and Lourdes are within easy reach. The sophisticated resort of Biarritz is 2 hours drive away. For more information on our area please click here

Our fully equipped workshop is situated in a converted barn with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The lathes are exclusively WivaMac Lathes and all tools are of the highest quality and are well maintained. Each workstation has a full range of tools and lathe accessories, protective clothing and all necessary safety equipment.

The workshop is divided into two adjacent rooms; the lathe room and the machine room with a connecting doorway between them. Each room is well heated and lit with the added advantage of lots of natural light. The lathe room is very well ventilated and filtered and the machine room has it’s own filtration unit for the band saw and work bench areas.

We have a programme of continual maintenance and add tools to the range as necessary.
